Quay's Crossing (pronounced Kwayz) was a whistlestop station on a defunct railway line originating in Port Hope, on land owned by Thomas Quay. Mr. Quay left the area in the 1840’s to go travelling in Australia; in 1965, the Dobos family bought the land at Quay's Crossing, and they have been there ever since. 

After retiring from teaching, Derek Dobos worked in the travel industry, organizing group sports tours around the globe. In 2023, he returned to his local roots and launched his own company.
